I first would like to acknowledge the step you are taking to create change in your life and thank you for considering me to be a part of that process. I have had the benefit of working in multiple settings including a shelter, nursing facility, hospital, community mental health agency, school and outpatient practices providing crisis stabilization and ongoing therapeutic support. These experiences have allowed me to view the multitudes of pain that the human body can endure and essentially overcome. It is in these moments of intense pain and discomfort that we have the opportunity to discover what it is we truly need, but only if we have the courage and proper support to do so.
It is my experience that behavior change is more successful and enduring when it comes from within the individual. As one approach does not fit all, I utilize an eclectic approach by incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focused and Strength-Based approaches. I believe change is best fostered by creating a non-judgmental, authentic and supportive therapeutic environment. It is within this environment that individuals feel safe to be supported and challenged to move through emotional barriers.
I provide counseling to adolescents (13 and up), adults, couples and families with issues concerning anxiety, depression, self-esteem, substance abuse, adjustment, trauma, relationships, grief, anger management, dependency, family conflict, abuse, self- harm and suicidal ideation.
